There is a famous quote about Russia that if we spend just two minutes watching each masterpiece, we need at least sixty years to complete our journey. When we talk about masterpieces in Russia, we find an unending list of masterpieces.  Among those beautiful and eye-catching attractions, we are discussing today just three of them.

PETERHOF PALACE IN IN SAINT PETERSBURG:

“Peterhof Palace” also known as “Russian Versailles” is situated in the city of Saint Petersburg, the second largest city of Russia after Moscow. Peterhof Palace is not just a single palace but a series of palaces along with beautiful gardens, symbolic lions and a lot more. It was built by Peter The Great, one of the important historical figures in Russian history.

This palace was designed by the Swiss architect Domenico Trezzini and he gave it Petrine Baraque Style. This architectural style gained so much fame that it became architectural standard all over Saint Petersburg. Although, Peter The Great was unable to see this spectacular palace during his life time as he passed away before of its completion but still managed to left his legacy behind this Palace.

Even today, this architectural masterpiece is one of the famous tourist attractions in entire Russia. According to a survey, over 5 million people visit this fascinating palace every year and this palace is also listed in World Heritage Site of UNESCO.

KAZAN:

Kazan is the only city where we can find colors of three diverse cultures and heritage at the same time including Islamic Heritage, Orthodox Christianity and Tatarstan. Kazan is one of the oldest cities not only in Russia but in entire Eastern Europe. It carries a long history over the period of thousand years. Once Kazan was Capital of Tatarstan region, as Tatar Fortress in Kazan is one of the historical masterpieces of 10th century and also included in UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Kazan is considered as one of those few cities which carries large number of mosques in Entire Europe.  Kul Sharif Mosque (Qul-Şärif Masjid) was built in 16th century and became famous immediately after its creation. This famous mosque faced a terrible storm in 1552 due to which it was damaged but restored in 1996.

Other beautiful mosques in Kazan include Märcani Mosque, Nurulla Mosque, Sultan Mosque, Bornay Mosque, Iske Tash Mosque, Äcem Mosque. All these historical mosques have their own interesting history which can be learned from the local guides who are living in Kazan.

ACCORDING TO THE AUTHOR STAS SERGEEV FROM RUSSIA:

Saint Peter and Paul Cathedral is one of the most famous Churches in Kazan. Bell Tower of the Church was constructed by Kazan and Moscow architects. 

Another interesting fact about Kazan is that it has one of the shortest metro system carrying only ten stops. You can easily complete your journey within 15minutes approximately.

KIZHI ISLAND:

Kizhi Island not as highlighted as Moscow and Saint Petersburg but still it is one of the eye catching and mesmerizing destinations in Russia. This beautiful island is popular all over because of its famous Open-Air Museum and incredible collection of wooden structures.

According to a survey over 80 wooden structures are found in Kizhi and most of them are original and ancient. Some of them are also included in UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The most famous place on this island is the Church of the resurrection of Lazarus which is considered one of the as oldest wooden Church in Russia.
