Rainbow Mountains in Danxia Landform, China

When you look at the pictures of these mesmerizing mountains, you may think that you are dreaming and this is not real but believe your eyes, it’s all reality and you can see these beautiful rainbow mountains with your own eyes in Danxia, Landform Geological Park in China. The word “Danxia” is derived from Chinese phrase (Chinese: 丹霞地貌; pinyin: dānxiá dìmào) which refers to “Red bed characterized by steep cliffs”. These mountains are 16000 feet above sea level and are also known as Rainbow Mountains due to its unique appearance.

Rainbow Mountains got attention first time back in 1920s when Chinese geologists began their efforts to analyze the reason behind the natural beauty of these spectacular mountains. With the passage of time geologists unfold their discoveries and we all received bank of countless knowledge.

When we talk about the age of these lofty mountains, it can be said that layers of different types of colored sandstone and minerals were pressed together over 24million years and buckled up by tectonic plates along with rain and wind of thousand years, has given this unique shape to these beautiful mountains. Some people also claim that cretaceous sandstones and siltstones were deposited in China even before creation of Himalayan Mountains. The sand and the silt deposited with iron and trace minerals provided these mountains the shape which we witness today.

Holy Quran mentions the existence of these beautiful miracle colorful mountains as one of the creation of Almighty Allah. Here the verse from the Holy Quran.

“Have you not seen that Allah sends down water from the sky? With it We produce fruits of various colors. And in the mountains are streaks of white and red — varying in their hue — and pitch-black. Likewise, human beings, animals, and livestock come in various colors. From among His servants, the learned fear Allah. Allah is Almighty, Oft-Forgiving.”

(The Quran 35:27–28)

ACCORDING TO MUFTI DR. SHAH MUHAMMAD ZUBAIR UL HAQUE:

“Within the mountains, different types of Gorges are found. The color of these routes and mountains differ from each other. Through diversity between off springs (mankind) of Noah (A.H) gives us identification and option for selection. This diversity shows us tactics and affairs otherwise all off springs of Noah(A.H) and all routes would have been same. that would not be sufficient enough to fulfill the requirements of this world. Diversity also shows us variety of creation by the Almighty (God). If there was no diversity, then people would have claim that everything came into existence as Coincidence and these are not outcome of any Charismatic Consciousness.“

Rainbow Mountains are considered as masterpiece of the Planet Earth. These mountains are praised and honored worldwide and listed in World Heritage Site of UNESCO in 2010.

ACCORDING TO AUTHOR RAZIAH TAHERI FROM IRAN:

“If you are a tourist, researcher, photographer, nature lover or an explorer; the highly recommended place is to visit none other than Rainbow Mountains in Danxia, China. You just need to take a flight which lands at Zhangye Ganzhou Airport. You can take schedule of direct flights which are going towards Zhangye. At the airport, you can hire a taxi or you can follow the route of Bus. The destination of Rainbow Mountains is just 65km away from Zhangye Ganzhou Airport.

The Rainbow Mountains are located inside the Zhangye Danxia Geopark which is 30km west of Zhangye City in north western province of Gansu, China. The area of Entire Park is 322 square kilometres and it contain two separate regions. The first one includes seven colored rainbow mountains while the other regions contains Ice Valley. There are two gates to enter the park. One at the North while other one at the West. Once the ticket is purchased it also includes transportation charges for tourists visiting inside the park.

Once you reached the destination, initially the mountains which you will see will not fascinate you much but once you reach the platform then your eyes become surprised and you do not believe what you are witnessing but after a while you will realize that whatever you are witnessing is not a dream but a reality.

As a photographer you can take best snaps of your life. On the other hand, it gives you the opportunity to explore variety of natural colors of mountains which itself is a moment which comes once in a life time. All in all, it can be concluded that Rainbow Mountains are one of the best gift for mankind which should be explored at least once. “
