“The Bombay Bakery”

Whether you are a local traveler or an international tourist, everyone who travels from Karachi to other parts of Pakistan by road or by train, Hyderabad is the city that always comes in the way and there is a masterpiece in Hyderabad which is none other than the famous “The Bombay Bakery”. This historical bakery is one of the most highlighted places in Hyderabad and it is famous all over Pakistan because of its unique identity. Bakery with a slogan “The shop inside a residential Bungalow” has made it an eye-catching attraction for its customers . This bakery was launched by Kumar Thadani’s family on 21^st November, 1911. At that time, South Asia was colonized under the government of the British Empire. Thadani family had taken a special permission with a license from the government of that time to open a bakery inside a residential bungalow. This bakery celebrated its 100^th anniversary on 21^st November 2011.

Now, this bakery is over 100 years old and is still run by the 5^th generation of the same family.  The bakery’s ownership, premise & business remain within the family. This is the only bakery in the entire country which is situated inside a residential bungalow.  The owners of the family reside inside the same bungalow even today. All the cakes offered by the bakery are famous for their quality. The most famous cakes include The Coffee Cake, The Chocolate Cake & The Macaroon Cake. These cakes are very light (unlike other creamy cakes) and you don’t feel heavy even if you eat them a lot. The recipe used for making the cakes remains the same since ages. This is the reason why their customers are always satisfied with the taste and the quality. Another interesting fact about the bakery is that all the cakes are sold quickly as customers get in queues prior to the time when the bakery opens and starts selling its cakes. The Bakery owners prepare a limited number of cakes per day as they believe in quality over quantity. An ideal time to visit the bakery is between 9am to 11:45am. You can also order a cake in advance online to avoid missing out on the yummy cake due to the large number of orders they get on a daily basis.

I visited “The Bombay Bakery”  back in March 2018 and my experience was excellent and I can’t forget the taste of their famous Coffee Cake even today. Whenever you visit Hyderabad, don’t forget to visit “The Bombay Bakery” at least once.
