People know Egypt because of their Giant Pyramids and Pharaohs, some people know it because of the City of Alexandria, the city founded by Alexander (The Great). Another eye catching attraction is none other than The River Nile. Whatever the reason is, we cannot ignore this place. Egypt is the only country having its own fascinating attractions. Egypt is one of those few countries having the longest history ever than anyone else. It can be said that “If we look at the beginning of Egyptian history, we find the dawn of early civilizations.”

Many dynasties have ruled this place centuries after centuries. Every ruler found this place as an ideal place to settle down because of The River Nile, which is one of the great blessings naturally for the inhabitants and survival of human beings. Egypt is the most populous country in North Africa and third most populous country in Africa. The country having total population of 102.3 million. Islam is the official religion of state and its official language is Arabic.

ALEXANDRIA:

Alexandria, the city located at the edge of the Mediterranean; is considered as the leading seaport and the second largest city of Egypt with the population of around 5 million. This historical city was founded by Alexander the Great back in 331 BC.

Many Egyptians Pharaohs including Cleopatra has ruled the country from this great city till the arrival of Romans. The most noticeable feature was the lighthouse of Alexandria, which was once considered as one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.

Apart from that The Citadel of Qaitbay (قلعة قايتباي‎) located in the city of Alexandria, established by the Sultan Al-Ashraf al-Din Qait Bay back in 1477 AD which is yet another master piece of architecture.  Even today, we can the glimpse of historical monuments, culture, art and traditions.

HISTORICAL LIBRARY OF ALEXANDRIA:

When we explore the world of best and most significant historical libraries, The Library of Alexandria was one of the greatest libraries of all time.

When we talk about the beginning of this ancient library, its exact time is not precisely known but its construction began somewhere between 300-200 B.C. This masterpiece of knowledge has faced several destruction over the centuries.

Even today, we find the glimpse of the golden age of the modern library in the city of Alexandria, Egypt. This historical place is a must visit place if you are visiting Egypt as a tourist, researcher, historian or even as an explorer.

700 YEARS OLD MOSQUE IN ALEXANDRIA

There is a famous and historical Mosque “Abu Abbas Al-Mursi Masjid” in the city of Alexandria. Abu Abbas al-Mursi was Andalusian Sufi saint who died in 1286 and was buried here. The Mosque was first built in 1307 after his name.

240 YEARS OLD RESTAURANT, KHAN AL-KHALILI BAZAAR

Khan Al-Khalili Bazaar is one of the historical bazaar (market) not only in Egypt but in entire Arabia, it was founded in 973AD. It was rebuilt in 13th and 14th century. Since then it remained as one of the important markets in Egypt.

Al-Fishawy Restaurant opened in 1773AD since then it never closed. Many literary personalities have visited this historical restaurant including famous Nobel Prize winner Egyptian author Naguib Mahfouz who has written many of his famous works while sitting at this restaurant.

WHITE DESERT (SAHARA AL BEYDA)

Sahara Al Beyda, also known as White Desert is a National Park 45km north from the town of Qasr-e-Farafra, Egypt. This Park is a great site of large white chalk manufactured by erosion of wind and salt. This beautiful manufacture gives the look of icebergs on desert. This place has magnetic attraction for the adventurers, explorers, researchers and film makers.

Apart from the beauty, this park provides safe passage for the survival of various precious and endangered animals like Rhim Gazelle, Dorcas Gazelle, Fennec foxes, sand cat etc.

FAMOUS EGYPTIAN FOOD KOSHARY:

Koshary (Kushari) is of the most famous and historical dish in Egypt. It is commonly found in every restaurant, every street and generally cooks in almost every home.

Kushary is prepared from a mix of rice, macaroni, lentils and spiced tomato sauce. It becomes even tastier if it is eaten with hot sauce or garlic sauce.
