Horses have been considered as one of the eye-catching animals for human beings since ages not just because of the attraction of its beauty but for the characteristics which a horse possesses naturally. Horses have a strong flight or fight response, and have a strong sense to escape any attack from their predators. They are obedient to their caretakers and sometimes even protect them in time of need.

Normally, horses have a skeleton of average 205 bones. Female horse around the age of four is called Mare while a female below the age of four is known as Filly. A male horse under the age of four is commonly known as Colt while a newborn horse (Male or Female) is known as Foal. Normally, A mare takes around 11months period to give birth to a new baby horse. Usually mares give birth to just a single foal at a time. In rare cases, we may find a twin birth of foals. Horses are blessed with God gifted ability that a newly born Foal can stand and even run shortly after the birth. Training under a saddle or harness as a child/adolescent horse begins at the age of two and continues until the age of four. They become adults at the age of five. After that, they can be used for long journeys, sports and wars. An average lifespan of a horse is between 25 to 30 years.

When we talk about the senses of horses, we find that they have a better sense of smell than that of human beings while their smelling sense is less than that of dogs. Horses have a strong sense of taste. They have the ability to select what they would like to eat and what not. For Instance, a horse would never eat any poisonous plant. They have sensitive areas around their eyes, nose and ears. They observe any unusual activity immediately especially if some insect touches their body.
