THE CAPE COAST CASTLE:
Cape Coast Castle is listed among the UNESCO World Heritage Sites along with some other forts and castles in Ghana. During the early decades of the castle back in the 1660s, it was used for trade of gold, wood and human slaves. After slave trade was legally abolished in 187 by Britain, the castle converted into an educational and administrative centre.
Currently, this castle is administered by the Ghana Museums and Monuments Board. The museum displays maps of slave trading, objects that were exchanged between the natives and the Europeans, gold weights and prints of slave ships and much more. This castle is one of the eye-catching attractions for the tourists.
THE ELMINA CASTLE:
The Elimina Castle is yet another castle in Ghana listed among the UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
