When we talk about Argentina, many people know this place as the country of famous football players Messi and Maradona. Argentina is officially also known as Argentine Republic, one of the eye-catching places because of its diverse geography.

The country having a total area of 2,780,400 km2 is the eight largest country in the world and second largest country in South America after Brazil.

Argentina has a lot to offer to the visitors who are exploring the country for the first time. Its diverse geography comprises everything from deserts to forests, long ocean beaches to soaring Andes and the largest group of waterfalls in the entire world.

Apart from that Argentina’s architectural heritage, rich cultural traditions and warm welcoming charismatic people makes it even more attractive. Lifestyle of Argentinian people somehow resembles the lifestyle of people living in cosmopolitan cities of South Asia. Argentinians love to socialize and hang out with friends in their free time.

One tradition in Argentina which resembles a lot with the culture of Karachi Heights is that their parties and gatherings begin a little late and dinner is mostly served after 10pm.

Salta is the capital and most populous city of Argentina. This lively city is also considered as a hub of cultural and economic centre and at the same time carries the honor of teaching tango is the best way.

The Los Glaciares National Park is a region of exceptional natural beauty with towering mountains and numerous glacial lakes (freezing lakes) including the famous Lake of Argentino. Los Glaciares National Park is also listed among the UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

CÓRDOBA IN ARGENTINA:

Córdoba is the second most populous city of Argentina and it is also the capital of Córdoba Province. This city is named after the Andalusian city of Córdoba. Córdoba was founded by Jerónimo Luis de Cabrera in 1573.

This city is famous for its rich colonial heritage, rich culture and countless historical monuments. (The mesmerizing Monuments of Argentinian Córdoba will be discussed in future in a separate article.)

RADIO BROADCASTING PIONEER IN SOUTH AMERICA:

Argentina is considered as a pioneer in entire South America for Radio Broadcasting as it was one of the first country in entire South America to have radio broadcasting. The country’s first broadcast was made in August 1920. After that, it also became the first Spanish speaking country in Latin America to offer daily radio broadcasts. The main stations were in Cordoba and Buenos Aires at that time.

ARGENTINIANS MADE THE FIRST ANIMATED FEATURE FILM:

Argentinians are also famous for creating the first animated feature films. The world’s first full length cartoon was made and released in Argentina by Quirino Cristiani in 1917.

ARGENTINA ONCE HAD 5 PRESIDENTS IN 2 WEEKS:

As a matter of fact, Argentina has the record of having 5 presidents in 2 weeks. President Fernando De La Rua resigned from his position on 20th December 2001 followed by his 4 successors till 2nd January 2002. Ramon Puerta served as President for 2 days, Adolfo Rodriguez Saa served for 8 days, Educardo Camano for 3 days. The last successor, Eduardo Duhalde remained on his post till may 2003.

Argentina is one of those countries having the largest population of Magellanic Penguins. Visitors can enjoy watching these beautiful penguins in their natural environment.

Argentina is also considered as the land of silver for producing 840 metric tons of silver yearly. Argentina is listed among the top 10 largest silver producing countries.

FAMOUS CUISINE IN ARGENTINA:

“Sandwich de Milanesa” also known as “MIlanesa Sandwich” is a famous dish all over particularly in the north. If you visit Argentina as a tourist for the first time, then it is a must try dish at least once.

ASADO:

Asado is a famous Argentinian food usually consisting of beef or chicken. It is cooked by using a grill or an open fire. It is also known as “Grilled barbecue in Argentinian style”. This dish is served with salad and drinks. The person who cooks As ado is known as Asador.
