Lake Bled is one of the most beautiful and fascinating places to visit in entire Slovenia. The natural beauty of the lake has its own attractions, multiplied by the surrounding small island along with the Background Mountains which increases the beauty of the scenery; but it does not end here, the hill side castles and natural caves inside them makes it a real journey of incredible exploration for the visitors. If you are a literature person, photographer, researcher, historian or just a nature lover; Lake bled is a perfect destination for you.
EYE-CATCHING ISLAND IN THE CENTER OF THE LAKE:
After reaching the destination of Lake Bled, the first and the most notable thing is the Church on the small island in the middle of the lake. The Church not only increases the natural beauty of Bled but it has a long and diverse history of 12 centuries. Apart from the Church, there are many other legendary buildings having their attractions and history.
POSTOJMA CAVE:
When we talk about one of the largest and most beautiful caves in entire Europe, the first name which comes in our mind is none other than Postojna Cave. The distance between Lake Bled and Postojna Cave is 65 km. The road distance is 100 km.
The cave having its own underground world of 24 km has hosted more than 40 million tourists in past 2 centuries and did not disappoint any of them because it has something to offer almost everyone.
It includes 1.5 km of walking path along with 3.5 km train ride tour.
Postojna cave also carries the honor that it was the first working railway inside the underground cave.
The cave comprises some of the finest examples of karst formation. The cave is also a home to many endemic species. Postojna Cave is surrounded my some more caves, an old mill, two castles, a hotel and countless restaurants.
ACCORDING TO THE AUTHOR RAZIAH TAHERI FROM IRAN:
PREDJAMA CASTLE:
“Just few kilometers from Postojna Cave, there is a famous castle located “Predjama Castle”. There are many reasons for the fame of the castle.
One of them is that the castle holds the Guinness World Record as it is the largest cave castle in the whole world. Another reason for the fame is that it is ranked among the list of 10 most fascinating castles in the world.
The castle was built 8 centuries ago and it carries a network of secret tunnels along with the cave inside the castle which makes it different from all other castles of the world.
Even today, tourists enjoy the collection of medieval weapons, captive chambers, chapel and much more.”
BLED’S FAMOUS DESSERT:
“Slovenian famous pastry is known as Potica. It is prepared from rolled leavened dough spread with various fillings, one of them is tarragon filling which is considered as traditional and is served during different festivals along with black coffee. “
