Bangladesh, the eight most populous country in the world, officially known as “People’s Republic of Bangladesh ” is a beautiful country in South Asia. The country has a population of 163 million people with Dhaka as its Capital city. Bangladesh has two sea ports namely Chittagong and Mongla.

Following are the 3 most beautiful UNESCO World Heritage Sites in Bangladesh from which we will begin our article.


SIXTY DOMES MOSQUE:


Just 320 kilometers (200miles) approximately from the city of Dhaka, Capital of Bangladesh, there is a beautiful historical Mosque in Begerhat, “The Sixty Dome Mosque” or commonly known as Saith Gunbad Masjid.

There are 77 domes over the Central Hall with 60 stone pillars. There is a possibility that initially Mosque was given reference as Sixty Pillars Mosque which later on turned into The Sixty Dome Mosque. This beautiful Mosque was built by Khan Jahan Ali back in the 15th century. This Mosque is one the best archeological masterpieces from the 15th century. This Mosque also comes under UNESCO’s World Heritage Site.


SOMAPURA MAHAVIHARA:


As a tourist, when you visit this place, you find ancient monasteries surrounded by beautiful natural greenery which makes you feel that you have landed in the place centuries back.


Somapura Mahavihara in Paharpur is another eye-catching UNESCO World Heritage Site in Bangladesh which was built back in the 8th century. We find glimpses of Gupta and Pala architecture in the ancient sub-continent even today. This place is a must visit place at least once.


SUNDARBANS MANGROVE FOREST:


Last but not the least, Sundarbans Mangrove Forest, yet another UNESCO World Heritage Site, is one of the largest forests in the world.

This place is considered as Pride of Bengal because of the famous Bengal Tiger which is found here along with 260 bird species and a wide range of fauna.

ONE OF THE LONGEST BEACHES NATURALLY:

When we talk about one of the longest natural beaches in the world, it is none other than Cox’s Bazar in Bangladesh. The beach has 120 km of uninterrupted coastline that you can enjoy for the entire day which makes it one of the most attractive tourist destinations in Bangladesh for even international tourists. 

MORE THAN 700 RIVER FLOWS

Bangladesh is famous for its rivers as more than 700 rivers flow through Bangladesh. These beautiful natural resources provide Bangladesh an incredibly lush green landscape. which not only increases beauty and greenery to the country but also provides visitors to enjoy this natural beauty through boating.

TEXTILE INDUSTRY:

Textile is one of the major exports of Bangladesh, as it includes around $37 billion of the country’s total export. This shows the importance of textiles on the country’s GDP.

THE PLACE WHERE MICROCREDIT WAS BORN:

Muhammed Yunus, The founder of Grameen Bank, began giving microcredits to women in rural areas out of his pocket back in the 1970s.

Of course, this led to him creating the bank that gives out small loans to people which continued and grew even bigger with the passage of time. Later on, he even won the Nobel Peace Prize for this initiative in 2006.

BANGLADESH: ONE OF THE LEAST OBESE COUNTRIES IN THE WORLD:

Bangladesh is one of the least obese countries in the world. Off course; the reason for being so lean is that people love consuming vegetables, fishes and rice. Apart from that most of the people keep themselves busy with  manually laborious work which makes them smart and athletic.

When we talk about food in Bangladesh, Fish is known as center stage in the local cuisine because the sea and rivers surround the country and fish is easily available throughout the year.

When you explore Bangladeshi restaurants, Hilsa fish is something you will find on almost every menu everywhere. It is a bony and white fish that people love to eat with curry. 

BANGLADESHI DESSERT:

When we talk about famous desserts, Rasgulla or Roshogulla is one of the most popular sweets in Bangladesh.

Mishti Doi is fermented sweet Dahi (Yogurt) prepared by adding milk and sugar, but it differs from plain yoghurt due to the preparation technique which turns it into a sweet dish.

POPUPLAR ATTIRE:

Bangladeshi men usually wear lungi casual wear but pant shirt are also common while women wear saari as casual wear. Some young females also wear shalwar kameez during occasions and festivals.

FAMOUS SPORTS:

Kabaddi is considered as one of the famous sports in Bangladesh and playing Kabaddi during childhood is a part of every child’s memory. 

Along with kabaddi, Cricket is another famous sport played and followed on National and International level.
