Rostov-on-Don, the city situated in the South of Russia, which is famous because of so many reasons. This beautiful city has countless attractions to grab the attention of almost everyone.
First of all, the city has one of the oldest sea and river port in Russia which plays major role in transporting 18 Million tons of merchandise yearly. This port is listed among top 15 major ports in Russia.
DON RIVER:
When we talk about Don River in Rostov, the right side of the Rostov is located in Europe while the left side is in Asia. If you want to visit Europe and Asia within a short span of time, just cross the bridge.
This river flows from Central Russia towards the Sea of Azov in Southern Russia. This River has played a significant role for traders during the period of Byzantine Empire.
VOROSHILOVSKY BRIDGE
Voroshilovsky Bridge is one of the great architectural masterpieces in Rostov-on-Don. This bridge was built during the period of 1961-1965 under the supervision of Engineer N.I. Kuznetsov and the architect Sh. A. Kleman. This beautiful bridge connects Rostov-on-Don with other cities including Bataisk and Azov.
CENTRAL MARKET (ROSTOV-ON-DON)
Central Market (Центральный рынок) also known as Old Bazaar (Старый базар), is situated in one of the oldest districts of the city Leninsky. This is not just a market but a historical center which carries the history over two centuries. The city was originated back in December 1749 and for the first time, this market came into existence somewhere after that but on one can exactly predict the year. Anyhow, the name of the Rostov-on-Don’s Market was highlighted for the first time in historical documents in 1840 and it continued after that. The Central Market of Rostov-on-Don flourished as a Merchant City for a long period of time.
Even today, it is a prosperous and successful market with arrival of local citizens in large number and this place is a source of generating income for countless individuals who work there.

CATHEDRAL OF THE NATIVITY
Rostov-on-Don Cathedral also known as Cathedral of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary (Кафедральный собор во имя Рождества Пресвятой Богородицы) was built for the first time in 1781. It was rebuilt in 1860. Nativity Cathedral is a five domed stone Church and in this way building itself creates the shape of Cross. This Church was built in Russian-Byzantine Style.
In 1875, the west side of the bell tower of the Cathedral was established. The bell tower was completed in 1887. The bell tower has a height of 75 meters. It was designed with the combination of Classicist and Renaissance features. This Cathedral has faced many decades and centuries of ups and downs. In 1999, on the 250th anniversary of the city of Rostov, the bell tower was restored in its original form.
THE CITY OF LIBRARIES, THEATERS AND MUSEUMS
This city is also known as The City of Libraries, Theaters and Museums. If you are fond of extensive reading then you should visit famous libraries of Rostov-on-Don like Scientific Library of the Medical University, The Don State Public Library, and Rostov regional Special Library for the blind.
If you are a creative person and you have interest in the world of theater then you should visit the eye-catching theaters in the city like Rostov State Puppet Theater, Maxim Gorky Academic Drama Theater, Rostov Music Theater and Rostov regional Academic Theater of the Youth.
If you have passion for the classics then your tour is incomplete without exploring the Museums of Rostov-on-Don.
Highly recommended museums are Rostov regional Museum of Fine Arts, Museum of Local Lore, Pioneer and Railway Museum.
All in all, it can be said that Rostov-on-Don is the city which should be explored at least once by every explorer.
